I fell in love with photography at 16. I loved it so much that I travelled halfway across the globe to pursue it. At the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I learnt how to communicate agendas through my pictures. And as an assistant to some of Chicago’s finest afterwards, I learnt how to make them very pretty. Following my return to Singapore in 1997, I photographed, wrote and designed at a publishing house first and then later at an advertising agency. In 2000, I returned to my roots as an image-maker and set up Kenneth Wong Photography.

For the last two decades, I have been working with a variety of clientele on an assortment of projects not nearly limited to fashion, beauty and lifestyle commissions. In recent years, I have been passing on accumulated know-how to the next generation – photography, lighting, industry best practices, ideation, story-telling and problem-solving skills. I do this as an adjunct lecturer at Lasalle College of the Arts, Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media, and, The Glasgow School of Art, Singapore.

Engaging an audience and telling them a story with the help of light has been a privilege of mine. It is my hope as a long time practitioner of photography that I will also be able to inspire others and impart to them a fine appreciation of the craft.
